Janacek was a Czech composer, who was often inspired by the folk music of his country, which he then processed in his own way. “Music for Club Swinging Exercises” is originally piano music, intended as musical accompaniment to gymnastic exercises during mass gatherings. The piece dates back to 1893 and is dedicated to the “Sokol patriotic physical fitness movement”, of which Janacek was a member.
