José Alberto Pina is a reference in the world of band composition and conducting. The Spanish composer studied conducting at the Conservatory of Music of Murcia, also getting lessons with teachers like José Rafael Pascual-Vilaplana, Sir Colin Davis (London Symphony Orchestra), Enrique García Asensio, Jerzy Salwarosky, John Phillips (King’s College London), Jan Van der Roost, Jan Cobe, Paolo Bellomia (Université de Montréal) Thomas Verrier, Lutz Köhler(Universität der Künste, UDK, Berlín) and more.

He is winner of the First Orchestral Conducting Competition "Ciudad de San Vicente delRaspeig" and the First National Wind Band Conducting Contest "Ciudadde Puertollano". He got the 1st prize in the composition competition for band in La Font de la Figuera and he was awarded at the Second Latin American Band Composition Competition "Vila de Ortigueira" with the work ''The Bermuda Triangle''. He has been nominated for the Hollywood Music in MediaAwards for the work ''The Island of Light ''.

He developed his activities a composer at Molenaar Edition with which he recorded several CDs. His commitment to the band world has taken him to be jury in competitions, performing lectures, courses and master classes in conducting and composition with renowned bands in Spain, Holland, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, China, Japan and Argentina.
